PROJECT ENDURE is a high adventure outreach and mentoring program for urban high school students. This four-year journey is about shaping patterns of thought, communication, and ultimately the way young people live their lives. It is about taking them to their limits and showing them that they can achieve beyond anything they thought or dreamed they could. It’s about achieving the delicate balance between challenge and support.

The project is a life-changing one. It touches multiple aspects of life from fitness and nutrition, to family, friends, community involvement, and service learning. From school to home, and pathways to the future. Project Endure is committed to shaping the way young people think about themselves, others, their environment, and their world. Project Endure is an adventure into discovering self, capacity, sustainability and building the endurance to achieve. Please consider donating to Project Endure.
Why We Exist...

The mission of Project Endure is to use the natural environment as a vehicle to challenge young people to define themselves, their mission, and their path, so they may lead a sustainable life in service of others.

Project Endure believes...

Young people are capable of amazing things. They have the ability, drive, and passion to achieve far beyond what they currently think they can; they merely need the challenge and support to push themselves further.

We have a moral responsibility to develop young people who put others above self. Meaning, they believe they can make a difference in the lives of others and the world, and WILL contribute to the greater good.

Humans need time and space away from the noise of the 21st Century world to engage in the process of deep reflection. The natural outdoor environment provides that space; our role is to provide the time and structure the experience. The Process of deep reflection, both structured and unstructured, is essential to looking back at past experience and looking forward to what lies ahead. It is critical the young people be taught how to engage in this kind of reflection and given support and feedback before, during, and after the process.

Humans construct meaning and understanding in community, not in isolation. When people come together in community ideas are developed, new meanings are constructed, and barriers are broken down. The ancient art of conversation is the key to understanding each other and finding ways to work together to achieve goals that are bigger than individuals.

Leadership is learned, not innate. The idea that leadership is a born trait is a dangerous fallacy. Leaders are developed over time and through practice, experience, and feedback. Being a leader sometimes means knowing what role to play in any given situation, and knowing that roles change based on circumstances. Young people need to be taught and allowed to practice these skills in challenging but safe situations. Outdoor adventure provides the perfect setting for learning and practicing being a leader and working with others to achieve group and individual goals.

Sustainability is the capacity to Endure. We must instill a passion for living sustainably in our young people or we will quite literally destroy each other and our planet. Sustainability is multidimensional and spans environment, society, culture, and economics. Our students will be advocates for sustainability and our company will model sustainability in all it’s practices, protocols, and policies.

Students will be...

Empowered to speak their truth without judgment

Engaged in deep reflection about who they are and who they want to be

Challenged to achieve amazing things

Supported in all their efforts

Taught how to survive in the outdoor world

Committed to living sustainably
